Kayak Trailer

Found a used jet ski trailer for s great price and wanted to create a dedicated watercraft carrier. The inspiration and trailer materialized at the right time, I bought the trailer in January and had a few months to plan the design. There are a couple things I might do differently next time but I'm pleased with the end results!

Removed all the old parts that made this a jet ski trailer except structural components.

Added new steel structure and cut out existing jet ski cross members. Vertical supports for the kayak mounts are in place.

Horizontal supports added for the Thule kayak roof rack. I already had these from a previous vehicle and designed the trailer around these mounts.

Steel is done and painted, decking supports bolted to the steel so the planks can get fastened with deck screws.

Decking is done, had to mock up to fit the paddle board roller mounts and see what the overall trailer would look like.

The red foam pool noodles are mounted on 1" conduit and are high enough to "roll" under the paddle board as it's loaded.

Paddle holders and anchor points mounted. Ready for the lake!
